Scott Resnick is a leader in the Wisconsin startup ecosystem. He is a serial entrepreneur, leading his first startup to nearly nine-figures in revenue. Scott was the founder and first Executive Director of StartingBlock Madison, a 50,000 sq ft entrepreneurship hub. Today, StartingBlock houses 80 early-stage companies, three venture funds, and multiple accelerators. Scott was also the co-founder of Capital Entrepreneurs, a tech association for founders with over 300 members. His work on startup ecosystems has been highlighted by national organizations and featured in Brad Feld's Startup Community Way and Steve Case's Rise of the Rest. Before StartingBlock. Scott is an angel investor, chairs a statewide venture debt fund, and is a strategic advisor to four venture funds.
Additionally, Scott is a former two-term member of the Madison Common Council. Scott led efforts to close the digital divide by piloting free internet access for students, created the first of its kind $1.5 million seed fund to spur women and underrepresented entrepreneurship, and legalized opportunities in the sharing economy. Member of the Plan Commission and was instrumental in the passage of the City’s annual $300 million budget. Scott serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County and the Madison Development Corporation.
Scott is a former two-term member of the Madison Common Council and entered with a pledge to make Madison a platform for innovation, specifically targeting social mobility. Resnick led efforts to close the digital divide by piloting free internet access for students on free & reduced lunch, created the first of its kind seed fund to spur women and minority entrepreneurship, and legalized opportunities in the sharing economy. Scott strongly advocated for sustainable land use as a member of the Plan Commission, and was instrumental in the passage of the City’s annual budget.
