Marie Avetria is the External Relations Manager at America Achieves. Prior to joining America Achieves, Marie served as Executive Director of Corporate and Foundation Partnerships for New Leaders, an organization working to prepare education leaders to deliver breakthrough results in America’s highest-need schools. She previously consulted with several education nonprofit organizations on development and helped to support the national expansion team at Citizen Schools, which partners with middle schools to expand the learning day for children in low-income communities. She also has served as a sixth-grade teacher for a public charter school in Oakland, California and has taught creative writing workshops for youth. She holds a BA in English literature from Brown University and an MFA in fiction writing from Brooklyn College.
