Laila is a Development Manager with America Achieves. Before joining the team, she was the Grants Specialist for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and was responsible for raising funding for national office initiatives. Alongside senior leadership, Laila also managed the activities of the research and program innovation teams to support a network of over 300 affiliates. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut, where she taught and served as program administrator for the Connecticut Writing Project and Early College Experience.

I am excited to work with a team committed to improving educational outcomes for all young people and increasing leadership capacity for educators.

What do we most need to focus on to improve the lives of America’s youth?

Although there are no simple answers, ensuring access to quality education is one way to positively impact a young person’s life.
