Dimity Palmer-Smith is the Director of Partnerships for College Access and Success at America Achieves. Prior to joining America Achieves, Dimity was the founding Executive Director of Friends of WHEELS, a nonprofit organization providing funding for college access and persistence services at WHEELS, a public school in Washington Heights. Dimity is a Teach for America (TFA) alumna and taught 6th – 8th grade math at NYC district and charter schools from 2007 – 2012. She received a Master’s of Education through the Principals Institute at Bank Street College of Education, a M.S. in Childhood Education (1-6) from Pace University and a B.A. in Political Science from Tulane University. Dimity’s interest in education and the nonprofit sector began during college while volunteering in schools in Peru and Costa Rica and researching and reporting on HIV/AIDS for UNICEF Kenya.
