Gil is the Senior Vice President and Treasurer of Scholastic Corporation (NASDAQ: SCHL) responsible for global treasury operations, portfolio management, financing, insurance and risk management, investor relations, and business development functions.  He is also the chair of the Administrative Committee for the Company’s pension and retirement plans.  Scholastic is the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books, a leading provider of elementary and middle grade print and digital instructional materials, and a producer of educational and entertaining children’s media. The Company creates quality books in print and digital formats, print and technology-based learning materials and programs, classroom magazines and other products that, in combination, offer schools customized and comprehensive solutions to support children’s learning both at school and at home.   Prior to joining Scholastic in 2006, Gil was an executive officer and treasurer of Crane Co. (NYSE: CR), a highly engineered industrial products company, where he was also the lead trustee for the company’s philanthropic foundations and charitable giving programs.  He has also held various positions in treasury, finance and portfolio management with American Express and Hess Corporation.  He is certified in lean enterprise systems design and operational excellence six sigma.  Earlier in his finance career, Gil was also an adjunct professor of finance and business management at the City University of New York’s Borough of Manhattan Community College Campus.   He currently resides in Weston, Connecticut.
